With 77 kindergarten places across three mixed-age core groups and 26 nursery places, our Children’s Center operates based on a cross-group concept.
Children actively shape their own education and development from birth. Each child is unique, distinguished by their own personality and individuality.
Children have a right to education, a voice, and a role in shaping their environment, as well as the right to fully develop their personalities, talents, and abilities.
Here, children experience acceptance for who they are—including their abilities, needs, and feelings.
Education takes place through free play as well as targeted projects and activities, all guided by the principles of the Bavarian Education and Care Plan.
We embody Christian values ​​in our daily interactions while respecting other religions and faiths. Biblical stories, Christian traditions, and festivals are key elements of our program.
Drawing on our professional expertise as educators, we understand, guide, and support children through their individual life stages and developmental journeys.
The foundation of our educational work is a relationship with the child built on responsibility, trust, and mutual respect.

Our Children’s Center is a place of connection; parents are always warmly welcome.
We use a dedicated app to keep parents informed about important news, updates, and scheduled events at our facility.

The *Evangelisches Haus für Kinder Haar* (Protestant Children's Center Haar) has been caring for kindergarten-aged children since 1975.
The facility underwent renovation and spatial expansion in 2011 and 2019. Since January 2012, we have also cared for children as young as eight months old.
On January 1, 2017, the *Jesuskirche* (Jesus Church)—along with its two facilities (the *Evangelisches Haus für Kinder Haar* and the *Evangelischer Kinderhort Haar*)—joined EKiM, a church-affiliated special-purpose association (*Zweckverband*) organized under public law. Since then, EKiM has served as the operating body for both facilities.

A total of 14 learning and activity areas are available to all children throughout the facility.

The rooms are designed to reflect the educational areas outlined in the Bavarian Education and Care Plan for Children in Day-Care Centers up to School Entry (BayBeP) and encourage children to learn, explore, and play independently. The materials are inviting and easily accessible to the children.

The outdoor area was redesigned as part of the new construction of the *Heilpädagogische Tagesstätte* (Therapeutic Day Center) Haar at Fasanenweg 44—located on the grounds of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church District Office Munich and thus in the immediate vicinity of our facility. This redesign was completed in September 2023.

The construction of the Therapeutic Day Center and an underground garage led to a complete re-modeling and restructuring of the entire outdoor area.

Since September 2023, the outdoor area has been shared by both facilities: the *Evangelisches Haus für Kinder* (Protestant Children's Center) Haar and the *Heilpädagogische Tagesstätte* Haar.

In the outdoor area, children from the Children's Center and children from the preschool groups of the Therapeutic Day Center at Fasanenweg 44 meet to play together and make use of the large garden.

By playing together outdoors with the children from the Therapeutic Day Center, all children experience lived inclusion and genuine participation as a natural part of their everyday lives.

The children are well supervised in the outdoor area by educational staff and their primary caregivers. There are shared garden rules that are adapted to the individual needs of the children at any time.

Daily Schedule

Our Daily Schedule

7:30 – 8:00 AM Early Morning Care

Children are welcomed by the early-shift educators in the "Green Group" room.

8:00 – 8:30 AM Children arrive in their respective group rooms.

8:30 AM Children gather in their group rooms for morning circle to greet one another, discuss planned activities, and more.

9:00 – 11:00 AM Children are free to play in the activity rooms, participate in planned activities or projects, or have their snack in the snack room (available from 9:00 to 9:45 AM).

8:30 AM – 12:30 PM Core Hours

During core hours, uninterrupted educational activities take place to implement the Bavarian Education and Care Plan. This period represents the minimum required booking time.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM Lunch

Kindergarten children have lunch in the snack room, eating in groups accompanied by their primary educators.

Nursery children have lunch in their "Nest" group room.

After lunch until 1:30 PM Midday Rest Period

Nursery children and any children who need a nap go to the sleeping room to rest and sleep. All other children rest in their group room with their primary educators and peers, listening to an audio story or a read-aloud story.

From 12:30 PM Pick-up Time

Children may be picked up starting at 12:30 PM, in accordance with their booked hours. From 1:30 PM: Free play and activities in the activity rooms and the garden

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Afternoon snack in the snack area

Until 4:00 PM: Educational activities and late-shift supervision

Food

We provide full meal service for all children. This means that all children receive two light snacks and one hot main meal: a mid-morning snack between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., a hot lunch, and a light afternoon snack between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

All products come from regional suppliers and, whenever possible, are organically grown and in season.

We receive milk and yogurt from the organic company Dennree as part of the EU School Scheme. Our supplier is the company "Lunemann’s leckerer Lieferservice."

We also obtain organic fruit and vegetables—partly through the EU School Scheme—from the supplier Isarland Bio-Handel GmbH.

Our lunch is freshly prepared every day in the kitchen of our partner facility, the *Evangelischer Kinderhort Haar*. Whenever possible, religious dietary requirements and food intolerances are taken into account. The meal consists of a varied, balanced diet featuring seasonal, regional, and—wherever possible—organic ingredients.

For the mid-morning snack, we offer the children water, milk, and juice spritzers.

Fresh water is provided for the children with lunch and the afternoon snack.

Water is also available in the hallway at all times for the children to drink whenever they are thirsty.

Our role is to accompany and support all children in their development, to identify any developmental challenges, and to offer assistance. Through our open, attentive, and accepting attitude toward every child, we lay the foundation for optimal development.

Employee

The primary points of contact are the manager and their deputy.

Currently, the team includes eight educators, two childcare assistants, and an educator trainee. We also support interns completing their pedagogical training, as well as young people and young adults participating in a voluntary social year.

A total of three housekeeping staff members (working full-time and part-time) and a caretaker assist us with all necessary housekeeping tasks, as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the facility.

The pedagogical team comprises staff members from various nations with diverse professional backgrounds and academic qualifications. Intercultural diversity and a multidisciplinary approach are fundamental to our work. Each staff member contributes their own individual strengths and talents. This enables us to work together effectively as a team—focusing on our collective strengths—to ensure the well-being of all the children.

Our Values ​​and Religious Perspective – Ethics, Religion, and Philosophy

Alongside fostering individuality, we place great importance on imparting values ​​regarding how we treat people, animals, nature, and the environment. This includes showing respect and appreciation for all living beings and forms of life.
In their daily lives, children ask many questions about religious, philosophical, and ethical topics. These questions are vital to their ethical development. An integral part of this development is learning to honor and respect the feelings and unique qualities of both others and themselves. These questions often begin with "why" or "how come" and relate to life events such as death, illness, emotions, and birth.
Through conversations, picture books, stories, and songs, we support the children in the following ways:

They develop their own view of humanity.
They experience acceptance and a deep sense of being valued.
In the daily life of our Protestant children's center, the children experience a community where Christian principles are put into practice:

To mark these seasonal festivals, all the children attend a devotional service together at the Jesus Church. Every two weeks, our pastor, Ms. Annedore Becker, leads a religious education session. The children learn about:

Christian songs and prayers

Like all EKiM facilities, we work not only with the center’s educational concept but also with a comprehensive settling-in concept and an intensive child protection concept.

Partners in Education and Upbringing

The educators at our facility form a partnership in upbringing with the parents. Establishing a relationship of trust is important to us, as it creates a solid foundation for shared goals that benefit both the child and the family.

We place great importance on maintaining an open dialogue with parents, both before and during the initial settling-in period. Active communication takes place through scheduled parent meetings as well as brief, informal conversations during drop-off and pick-up times. At our first parents' evening each October, parent representatives—along with a deputy representative for the entire facility—are elected to form the Parents' Council. This council convenes public meetings several times throughout the kindergarten year.

All parents have the opportunity to actively participate in daily routines, activities, and celebrations, as well as in other matters and aspects of the daycare center’s operations.

Transparency, respect, and appreciation are very important to us.

A child's development is a complex process that unfolds uniquely for every child. This can present significant challenges for parents.

We complement and support parents in the care, development, and upbringing of their children (SGB VIII §1; BayKiBiG Art. 4). As part of our partnership in upbringing, we engage in a trusting, professional collaboration with parents based on mutual respect and equality.

Parents are the experts on their own children and their family's lived reality.

We view ourselves as companions on the journey and offer guidance and advice whenever needed.

All children and their families are welcome at our facility. This fundamental attitude embraces all forms of inclusion and reflects our Christian values.
